Comparative adjectives

Hej! It’s been a while. I’ve managed to find some time to get back into Duolingo over the past few weeks, and since I’m running dangerously low on lingots I decided to stop refreshing the same skills over and over and try something new.

Today I did a lesson on comparative adjectives – words that allow us to compare one thing to another. Here are some examples: [read more]

  • Mindre = smaller
  • Större = bigger
  • Finare = nicer (finer)
  • Rikare = richer
  • Billigare = cheaper
  • Dyrare = more expensive
  • Varmare = warmer
  • Kallare = colder
  • Vackrare = prettier
  • Fulare = uglier
  • Viktigare = more important
  • Yngre = younger
  • Äldre = older
  • Kortare = shorter
  • Längre = taller
  • Långsammare = slower
  • Snabbare = faster
  • Bättre = better
  • Sämre = worse / inferior
  • Nyare = newer
  • Svårare = harder (more difficult)
  • Lättare = easier
  • Vanligare = more common
  • Tröttare = more tired
  • Intressantare = more interesting
  • Oftare = more often

EXAMPLE: Hon är längre än mig – She is taller than me

I actually prefer the Swedish system for writing these over the the English – it’s so much more consistent! Hopefully that’ll help me remember 🙂
